Success- Truths

I like to think of Success as anything that you do well.  It doesn’t have to be anything that special, but just something that you excel in.  No, I don’t have all the keys to success but my question, I think, would be does anyone?  Lately, I have read a lot about Success and wondered why it is so much more important to some than it is to others.  But, like with anything else in life…people are different and have different views about everything. Success now this very moment is what we reach for.

To me one of the most important aspects of being Successful is to know when you have attained what is most important in your life.  To me it is not about money, our job or our status in life.  If we look at the people who have seemed to have attracted all these things and have it all, they have more money than they will ever spend, they have the respect of so many people, what appears to have the perfect family;  and then they blow it all away, seemingly without even thinking of the results.  Now, my question would be; why?

The answer I think is complex yet simply.  Success can’t be measured by how much money anyone has, because it seems that the more money people have, the more they want.  Success can’t be evaluated by any material asset that I can think of, because the more, most people have, the more they seek for.  It appears that Success isn’t really about the job, or the talent or the expertise; it is about being better than the best.  These are my presumptions as I have looked around and watched so many people, who have actually had success in all sorts of ways.  Yet they are seeking something that actually has nothing to do with success and actually they experience habits or forms of destruction which satisfy some short lived inner ego trip that can destroy everything they have worked for, including their family.  Again, why? We start asking when is Success enough

When the aforementioned happens, then my guess is that their life is void of the most important ingredients which constitute Success of any kind.  To mention a few; Self-worth, self-respect, character, inner peace, confidence, and the sheer ability to discern  the effects of the pleasures of “success” or “sin”, for a season,  which can nullify every positive thing they have done for a lifetime. Success is a journey but it can be an unpleasant trail as well.

With Success, one should be building up not tearing down.  Success is not gaining everything you can put your hands on, but cherishing what you have.  Success for some is getting up, going to work everyday and then doing the same thing tomorrow.  They ask for nothing else, just today and hopefully tomorrow.  They may not have riches, fame or too much of anything except “contentment” in that they have a job, a family, a home and they can meet their obligations.  On the other hand, you have those that do the same things but they work at night, on week ends and are desperate to have that promotion, that new salary, that new car, that new home, that new ……everything….  I don’t think there is anything necessarily wrong with either one of these examples, just as long as both know when their proprieties need an overhaul.

I think that some people do not know how to handle Success of money. Have you ever seen someone inherit money and they did not keep it?  It seems that it was gone quicker than they got it and they had nothing to show for it.  I don’t know why but they just could not hold on to it.  Truly a shame but sometimes it seems that if one does not work for something…it loses its value and it is hard to hold on to.
