Resources For All Students
Our offices offer a number of programs, each tailored to help you through various aspects of law school. Here is an annotated list of our programs. Click on the links for more information about each program:
Academic Support Professors have instituted an Academic Support Blawg to provide you with timely tips about how to succeed in law school, remind you about upcoming law school events, and keep you informed about important bar deadlines.
Lending Library
Academic Support maintains a lending library of resources, including textbooks, study aids, and books that contain general information about law school, the bar exam, and the practice of law. These books are available to all students and may be borrowed for short periods of time.
Individual Assistance
The academic support professors are available to meet with you to discuss any topic that will help you succeed in law school and beyond. We are here to listen as well as to strategize and provide individualized success plans. When you present a situation that is not within our domain, we can also connect you with the resources that will meet the needs of your situation. Please make an appointment to see us via our TWEN page, Academic Success.
Improving Low Performance
Academic Support Professors are available to meet with you individually or in small groups about ways to improve your performance in law school. Our services include strategies about how to balance life and law school, time management, handling stress, and academic performance issues like how to read and brief cases, prepare for exams, and improve your exam-taking skills. We are also available for individualized bar preparation counselling.
Bar Exam Preparation Resources
Academic Support oversees Hofstra Law School’s bar exam preparation resources, including a for-credit bar exam preparation course, short-term bar tutoring, information sessions regarding the bar exam, and individual advisement on preparing for the bar exam.
